Ohio mother lashes out at social worker who “raised” and raped her 13-year-old son

Ohio mother lashes out at social worker who “raised” and raped her 13-year-old son

The grieving mother of a 13-year-old boy who was groomed and raped by an adult social worker wishes she had never let the predator into her home.

In a statement read in court Thursday, the unidentified mother told Payton Shires of Ohio that the abuse had devastated her son and undermined her faith in the nation’s social services, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

“Instead, he was manipulated, groomed and sexually abused by Ms Shires,” the statement said, according to a local newspaper. “I regret ever letting you into my home.”

Shires, 24, was sentenced to more than four years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender in the future.

She pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in May and other rapes.

The victim’s mother said she began noticing disturbing text messages sent between Shires and her son late last year, including one in which the counselor asked if he had deleted certain videos.

Investigators later found incriminating texts and at least one video showing them engaging in sexual activity.

Police arranged a telephone conversation between Shires and his mother, and a social worker confirmed that the relationship was illegal.

Shires worked with the National Youth Advocacy Program, which provides foster children and other children with counseling and support.

Shires was fired after the allegations came to light.

After the arrest, the adviser was released on bail of PLN 50,000. dollars and showed up at the victim’s house, brandishing a gun.

The boy’s mother, she said, ruined her life by reporting their relationship to authorities. Shires, police say, threatened to kill his parent.

“I wasn’t thinking straight when I went to my mother’s house,” she told the court on Thursday, claiming she was suicidal at the time.

“I’m just grateful that she took the right steps and called the police,” Shires said, arguing that the arrest prevented her from continuing down her dark path.

Shires asked Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Serrott for mercy at sentencing, telling the court she has a 4-year-old son and suffers from a long-term and untreated mental illness.

But Serrott sharply criticized Shires for her actions.

“He was a child,” the judge said before handing down the sentence. “He was trying to get the help he needed.”
