Three accused of abducting a woman with 4-year-old children at gunpoint

ALAMEDA — Three 18-year-old Oakland residents appear in court in connection with the armed carjacking of a woman and two children Wednesday in Alameda.

Marionna Haley, Isaiah Howard and Sariyah Barker are charged with one count of grand theft auto and two counts of child abuse, as well as possession of a firearm, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release Friday.

“Children are extremely vulnerable to gun violence,” said District Attorney Pamela Price. “The weapons allegedly used while the children were in the car at the time of the theft were dangerous and are absolutely unacceptable in Alameda County.”

The car theft occurred on Wednesday just after 2 p.m. at 2800 Mound Street.

A 42-year-old woman and her two 4-year-old children — a boy and a girl — were parked in front of their home when three suspects approached them and demanded the keys to their BMW sport utility vehicle, Alameda police said. One of the suspects had a gun.

The woman complied and was allowed to take the children. No injuries were reported.

The perpetrators then drove away in the BMW.

Authorities tracked the BMW and arrested the suspects after their crash in San Francisco.
