Nigerian national among three arrested in Pune drug video case

Pune, Maharashtra:

Pune police have arrested three more accused, including a Nigerian national, in connection with the Pune drugs video crackdown case, a senior police official said.

The police also seized 4 grams of cocaine worth Rs 75,000 and 7 grams of drugs from the accused.

With the arrest of three accused, the total number of arrests in this case now reaches 13.

“The Pune police have arrested three more persons, including a Nigerian national, in the case. The total number of arrests has now reached 13. The police have also recovered 4 grams of cocaine worth Rs 75 lakh and 7 grams of MD from the suspects. Relevant sections of the NDPS Act have also been booked in the case. Further investigations are on,” said DCP Sandeep Singh Gill of Pune police.

The police took action after a video surfaced on social media on June 23 showing two teenagers taking drugs in the toilet of a popular bar in Pune.

Earlier, Pune police arrested two persons for allegedly consuming drugs in Pune. The arrest came after a video appeared on social media last Sunday showing two people taking drugs in a pub toilet.

One of the youths was arrested in Pune and the other in Mumbai on Tuesday by the Pune crime branch. They were later produced before a sessions court and remanded to police custody till June 29.

During the court proceedings, police told the court that two people had been identified in the viral video and that further investigation was necessary to determine what substances they consumed in the bar’s toilet. Therefore, an interrogation in custody is necessary.

Following the strict orders of Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, the city authorities today took action against L3 Bar and demolished the illegal structure inside the bar. A total of 26 illegal parts of many hotels, restaurants and restaurants in the city were demolished.

Moreover, the State Excise Department also took swift action by suspending two officers for dereliction of duty and arresting six others in connection with the L3 bar for violating regulations.

Before the arrests, Pune Police CP Amitesh Kumar also suspended four police personnel, including one inspector-rank officer and one sub-inspector, and two constables. The probe into the drug bust at L3 Bar on FC Road in Pune is ongoing as authorities crack down on illegal activities and maintain law and order in the city.
