Park Circle Police Shooting Injures Officer, Man | News

NORTH CHARLESTON – Law enforcement officials are investigating a confrontation at a Park Circle home that ended with a man shot and an officer injured, police said.

North Charleston police responded to a suspicious person call in the 5000 block of Braddock Avenue around 8:05 p.m. June 28. The call came in about a man acting erratically and making incoherent statements, police said.

Police found the man as he tried to enter a home on Alpha Street, said Harve Jacobs, spokesman for the North Charleston Police Department.

The man became aggressive as the officer tried to arrest him, Jacobs said. The man broke free from the officer during the struggle and forced entry into the home, Jacobs said.

The homeowner confronted the man and that’s when the shooting began. Jacobs said both the officer and the homeowner fired.

Jacobs said the man who entered the Alpha Street home was taken to an unidentified hospital after being shot.

It is unclear whose bullet hit the man or his condition.

A police officer who arrived at the scene was also taken to an unknown hospital for injuries sustained during the fight.

The South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
