Six officials suspended over Ayodhya Ram Path road collapse, flooding

The suspended officials include three engineers from the Public Works Department (PWD) and three from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam

This Uttar Pradesh Government has suspended six officials civic bodies for gross negligence collapse of roads AND watering on several sections of the newly constructed Ram Path in Ayodhya. The state government has also issued a notice to the Ahmedabad-based contractor Bhugan Infracon Private Limited in connection with the case.



There were about 15 side streets and roads along Ram Path. flooded after rain on June 23 and 25. Even houses along the road were flooded. Parts of a 14-kilometer section of the road also collapsed in more than a dozen places.

There are suspended officials Dhruv Aggarwal (executive engineer), Anuj Deshwal (assistant engineer) i Prabhat Pandey (junior engineer) in the Public Works Department (PWD) and Anand Kumar Dubey (executive engineer), Rajendra Kumar Yadav (assistant engineer) and Mohammed Shahid (Junior Engineer) from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam.

Aggarwal and Deshwal were suspended on the orders of the special secretary Vinod Kumar on Friday. Pandey’s suspension order was issued by PWD Chief Engineer (Development) V.K. Srivastav. Managing Director Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam Rakesh Kumar Mishra issued an order to suspend three engineers.

The PWD office order stated that the topmost layer of the Ram path was damaged soon after its construction, showing negligence in the work carried out as part of the top priority of the Government of Uttar Pradesh and tarnishing the image of the state among ordinary peopleFurther investigations are underway, PWD principal secretary Ajay Chauhan said.
