UFC 301 Video: Mauricio Ruffy Explodes Jamie Mullarkey’s Nose and Defeats Him via Brutal TKO

Mauricio Ruffy brought violence to UFC 301 when he brutally defeated lightweight veteran Jamie Mullarkey.

In Saturday’s elimination round at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Ruffy (10-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) knocked out Mullarkey (17-8 MMA, 5-6 UFC) with a series of punches and finished the fight by technical knockout at 4:42 of the first round.

Ruffy’s right hand tripped Mullarkey, followed by a flying knee connection. Ruffy’s second right hand dropped Mullarkey, and more punches followed. Mullarkey got to his feet, but Ruffy stalled again. The second time Mullarkey hit the canvas was enough for referee Mike Beltran to wave off the fight.

Ruffy, 30, has won five straight fights, all five of which have come via strike stoppage. Saturday was his promotional debut after earning a UFC contract with a TKO victory over Raimond Magomedaliev on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Mullarkey, 29, has lost two fights in a row and three of his last four. All three losses were by knockout/TKO.
