One visitor to the Giant’s Causeway was taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling on the iconic stones on Saturday.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance and coastguard, attended the scene on the Antrim coast this afternoon.

The injured party was taken to hospital after the incident.

Part of the popular tourist attraction was closed for a short time.

“Coleraine and Ballycastle Coastguard teams were tasked to assist Northern Ireland Ambulance Service at the Giant’s Causeway this afternoon,” Coleraine Coastguard confirmed on social media.

“A man fell from a great height from the famous stones and was seriously injured.

“The Northern Ireland Air Ambulance is also at the scene.

“The victim was evacuated and taken to Causeway Hospital.”
