A fire temporarily closes the Cedar Ridge Crematory in Cato Ridge

A fire broke out at the Cedar Ridge Crematorium in Cato Ridge on Saturday afternoon, rendering the facility inoperable.

Firefighters extinguished the fire just after 2 p.m.

Pastor Quinton Aiyer of Greater Times International Church said he went there on Saturday with a member of his parish and saw the fire department there.

“When I reached the spot around 2pm, the fire brigade was already there,” Aiyer said.

Aiyer estimated the fire broke out around 1 p.m.

“The building didn’t burn down; However, the fire means that the facility is currently unusable,” he said.
