Man wielding a machete who caused chaos on night buses arrested: Winnipeg Police – Winnipeg

Winnipeg police say they have arrested a man after an incident Saturday involving a machete on a bus.

At 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, police were dispatched to the area of ​​Grassie Boulevard and Lagimodiere Boulevard following a report of mischief on a bus.

Police say a man and a teenage girl got on the bus and started a verbal fight. The two later got off the bus and the driver closed the door.

The man tried to get back on the bus but was refused. Police say he pulled out a large knife, later confirmed to be a machete, and began damaging multiple windows on the bus.

Police say no one was injured, so officers arrested the man and the teenager and took them into custody.

The 19-year-old faces weapons possession charges, as well as misdemeanor charges. The 16-year-old was detained under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.
