Prosecutor: Jersey City driver seriously injures two moped riders in road accident

A Jersey City driver seriously injured two people who were riding a moped in an early morning hit-and-run crash in District F, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

Suarez said in a statement that this morning at approximately 12:20 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a collision in the area of ​​Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and located two victims, later identified as a 36-year-old East Orange man and a 26-year-old Newark woman, with serious injuries. The victims were on a moped at the time of the collision.

The second vehicle did not remain at the scene. Both victims were transported to Jersey City Medical Center where they are being treated for their injuries. During the initial investigation, the second vehicle was identified and recovered.

The Hudson County Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this matter.
