8-year-old Roch. The Hills shooting victim has been released from the hospital

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – An 8-year-old boy, one of nine people injured in a mass shooting at a Rochester Hills splash pad on June 15, has been released from the hospital and returned home.

The boy suffered serious injuries in the shooting, which authorities said was accidental. Oakland County Sheriff’s Office officials said they were not releasing the boy’s name.

His mother, a 39-year-old Rochester Hills woman, suffered serious injuries while trying to shield her children from the attacker.

A 39-year-old mother and a 30-year-old woman are the only two shooting victims still in hospital.

The gunman, a 42-year-old man from Shelby Twp., committed suicide shortly after the shooting.
