Two men arrested after firearms and drugs were seized in south Dublin

Two men have been arrested after gardai seized firearms and drugs worth more than €40,000 in south Dublin.

Police said a search of a house in Ballinteer, Dublin 16, discovered two firearms and 2kg of suspected cannabis and jelly.

The two arrested men, both aged in their 30s, are being questioned at Dublin police stations under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

“Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) carried out an intelligence-led search operation on the basis of a warrant,” a spokesman said.

“During the search, two firearms and 23 7.65mm ammunition were seized, along with 2kg of suspected cannabis herb and a small quantity of cannabis jelly with a total estimated value of €41,900.”

Police added that the confiscated drugs will be analyzed by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
