Euro 2024: Germany vs. Denmark suspended due to lightning

DORTMUND, Germany – The Euro 2024 round of 16 match between Germany and Denmark in Dortmund was interrupted by referee Michael Oliver due to a thunderstorm that led to players being forced off the field by a lightning strike.

English referee Oliver stopped play in the 37th minute of the match at Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park after loud thunder and lightning preceded a downpour.

The players returned to the pitch after approximately 17 minutes.

The statement said: “Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the match was suspended. “Further information will be provided shortly.”

At the time of suspension, the match was tied 0-0. German defender Nico Schlotterbeck had a goal disallowed in the fourth minute after an offense by teammate Joshua Kimmich.
