As heavy rain fell on the Westfalenstadion, players from both teams stood on the edge of the pitch for a moment before being led to the locker rooms.

The round of 16 match started in good weather, but conditions changed as the match finished after half an hour.

Loud thunder, lightning, heavy rain and hail came as fans of both teams tried to protect themselves under makeshift covers.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou told ITV: “I’m surprised it’s taken so long to take them off because there have been some really nasty incidents involving them.”
