2 people arrested at DUI checkpoint in Encinitas; 680 vehicles were passed through and 27 were stopped for additional tests

Authorities said Saturday that two people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI checkpoint in Encinitas.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the bust occurred from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday in the area of ​​1800 S. Coast Highway 101.

According to the department, a total of 680 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 27 drivers were detained for additional checks.

Three drivers were cited for driving without a license, one driver was cited for driving with a suspended license, and two vehicles were towed, police said.
