8-Year-Old Roch. Hills Shooting Victim Released from Hospital

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — An 8-year-old boy, one of nine people injured in a June 15 shooting at a Rochester Hills playground, has been released from the hospital and returned home.

The boy suffered serious injuries in the shooting, which officials said was accidental. Officials with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said they were not releasing the boy’s name.

His mother, a 39-year-old Rochester Hills woman, suffered serious injuries while trying to protect her children from the gunman.

A 39-year-old mother and a 30-year-old woman are the only two shooting victims still in hospital.

The perpetrator of the shooting was a 42-year-old man from Shelby Twp. who committed suicide shortly after the shooting.
