The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a Missouri man drowned Friday when his lawnmower tipped over and left him underwater.

At about 2:40 p.m. Friday, Brent Carroll, 20, of Warrensburg, was mowing grass at the highest point of a berm around a pond on private property when the riding mower lost traction and began to slide sideways down the hill toward the pond in rural Henry County, according to an MSHP report.

The lawnmower’s tire dug into the ground at the edge of the pond and overturned, pinning Carroll underwater, the report said.

Paramedics pronounced Carrol dead at the scene just before 4 p.m. His body was taken to the funeral home.
