Germany vs. Denmark clash interrupted due to heavy rain and storm

Germany’s match against Denmark in the Euro 2024 knockout stage was suspended after 35 minutes due to thunder and lightning in Dortmund.

English referee Michael Oliver stopped the action and sent the players off the pitch when the score was 0-0.

As heavy rain fell on the Westfalenstadion, players from both teams stood on the edge of the pitch for a while before being escorted to the locker rooms.

The round of 16 tie started in good weather, but conditions changed as the competition passed the half-hour mark.

Loud thunder, lightning, heavy rain and hail came as fans of both teams tried to take shelter under makeshift shelters.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, speaking on ITV, said: “I’m surprised it took so long to get them out because there were some really unpleasant incidents with it.”
