Bad weather delays the start of Round 3

The first two rounds of the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic were phenomenal, with players showing their ability to score low at Detroit Golf Club. Unfortunately, if you’re a golf fan hoping to watch the third round, you’ll need to be a little more patient before you can satisfy your golf cravings.

As of this writing (12:15 p.m. EST), Rocket Mortgage Classic play is still suspended. PGA Tour Communications posted the following information on its official X account (formerly Twitter) this morning.

Since this initial announcement, the start of round three has been pushed back twice more, with the match now scheduled to begin at 12:48 p.m. ET.

The X PGA Tour Communications account also shared a weather forecast for today’s third round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, but it doesn’t look too promising before about 4:00 PM ET. Who knows if or when play will actually start on Saturday.

In preparation for the nasty weather, the PGA Tour announced that the groups for Round 3 of the Rocket Mortgage Classic will feature threesomes, which is expected to help speed up the pace of play in hopes of finishing the third round on Saturday. However, with the delay in fan registration, it will be interesting to see if and when the tournament gets underway today.

According to Detroit Newsif the match is postponed at any time on Saturday, fans with a Saturday stadium ticket will be able to use those tickets for Sunday.

Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate and clean up in time for tonight’s Rocket Mortgage Classic to go ahead as planned. For those interested, here are the details (including the third-round pairings).

How to watch the Rocket Mortgage Classic on TV on Saturday

Golf Channel will air early coverage starting at 1 p.m. ET, followed by CBS at 3 p.m. ET. Peacock will offer a simulcast of Golf Channel’s coverage, and Paramount+ will air CBS’s coverage.
