A dodgy mechanic has narrowly avoided jail after defrauding a customer of almost £500 for failing to complete work.

Mark Cairns (40) received a suspended sentence and was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation to the victim after pleading guilty to one count of fraud by making false representations at Laganside District Court in Belfast.
