New York neighbors rescue 9-year-old boy from Long Island pool, police say

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY (PIX11) – Neighbors rescued a 9-year-old boy who was found unconscious at the bottom of a residential swimming pool in Long Island, NY, Friday evening, according to police.

The incident occurred in Nesconset, New York, and Fourth District officers responded to a 911 call reporting the situation.


Authorities said neighbors quickly removed the boy from the pool and immediately called 911. They also performed CPR on the boy until first responders arrived, authorities said.

The boy was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Suffolk County police investigators are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, authorities said.
