GA man accused of trying to meet 8-year-old girl from an online chat room

A Georgia man has been arrested on charges of indecency with children.

According to deputies, Royce Smith arrived in Muscogee County expecting to meet an 8-year-old girl.

The sheriff’s office said investigators, who posed as a child, spoke with Smith via cellphone and online chat rooms.

Muscogee County deputies said Smith planned to meet the girl for an evil purpose.

Smith was arrested and booked into the Muscogee County Jail.

He was charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony.

“We won’t stop until they do,” the sheriff’s office said.
