Police confirm arrest made in shocking Telford house fire

The incident happened on Saturday evening on Hayward Avenue in Donnington, Telford.

Six fire and rescue services from Shropshire were called to a fire at two semi-detached houses at 6.17pm.

The fire destroyed one of the properties, but the couple who lived there managed to escape unscathed.

West Mercia Police confirmed that arrests had been made in connection with the fire.

A spokeswoman said: “We were called to a house fire at around 6.50pm on Saturday in Hayward Avenue, Donnington. A man was later arrested on suspicion of arson.”
