A woman is dead, a firefighter injured in a fire in the south of the city

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – A woman has died following a fire on Syracuse’s south side.

The incident occurred on South Avenue, about a block from Swallow’s.

A firefighter was also injured. We were told he ran into the house. He was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

We do not yet know the name of the woman who died.

The call came in at around 11pm on Sunday. Firefighters were on scene all night.

The house was seriously damaged.
