Marc Guehi suspended for England’s quarter-final clash with Switzerland

When England face Switzerland in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, they will be without Marc Guehi.

The Crystal Palace ace played a key role in the Three Lions’ success in continental competitions.

According to reports from Sky Sports, the 23-year-old has played in every match for England in this competition, with the centre-back replacing the injured Harry Maguire.

Guehi was part of the team that beat Slovakia 2-1 in a dramatic round of 16 match to advance to the quarter-finals.

Ivan Schranz opened the scoring for Slovakia in the 25th minute, with the team well on their way to eliminating Southgate’s men.

However, Jude Bellingham got them back into the game in extra time and the Real Madrid star scored with a stunning overhead kick to make it 1-1.

Shortly afterwards, Harry Kane scored a goal and Slovakia suffered a painful defeat.

Guehi to miss match against Switzerland

However, it turned out that Southgate will be forced to rethink his team’s formation ahead of the quarter-final clash with Switzerland.

This comes after it emerged that Guehi has been suspended for the last eight matches.

According to SPORTbible, the defender was suspended for this match after receiving his second yellow card of the tournament early in the match against Slovakia.

Guehi was shown a yellow card after trying to block Andraz Sporara at the last minute in the fourth minute.

England’s quarter-final match is scheduled for Saturday, July 6.
