New Delhi: A New Jersey school teacher has been arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with an underage student, authorities say. Allison Havemann-Niedrach, 43, was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said.

The investigation revealed that Allison allegedly began sexually abusing the student earlier this year. However, authorities did not reveal how it happened or how many times the woman attacked the student, the New York Post reports. The student’s age was not disclosed. Students from grades 6-8 attend the school.

The teacher is currently being held in the Monmouth County Jail because she has not yet had a detention hearing. A hearing will be held to determine whether she will continue to be held in custody while awaiting trial.

The prosecutor’s office asked for public assistance in this case. “Anyone with information regarding Havemann-Niedrach’s activities is asked to contact MCPO Detective Dawn Correia at 800-533-7443,” the office said in a statement.

Havemann-Niedrach’s LinkedIn profile states that she has been a special education teacher at Freehold Intermediate School since March 2022. Her profile says she is a “passionate, results-oriented and sincere teacher.”

After the arrest, Asia Michael, superintendent of the Freehold Borough School District, sent an email to staff and parents. The email states: “We have been informed that a former employee has been arrested on charges of third-degree sexual assault and sexual misconduct with a minor. Please be assured that our district has been fully cooperating with the prosecutor’s office since the beginning of this investigation. The safety and well-being of our students and staff was our highest priority and we took immediate action to ensure their protection.”
