Local students shine at Ohio Art Education Association’s Emerging Artists Showcase – Peak of Ohio

Benjamin Logan students Cayden Brown and Sophia VanVoorhis showcased their artistic talents at the Ohio Art Education Association’s prestigious Emerging Artist Show held at the Columbus College of Art and Design.

Although Fourth Congressional District winner Charley Hardman was unable to attend due to a return trip from Washington, D.C., her work was also honored along with students from across Ohio.

The event highlighted the exceptional artistry of these students, and Cayden Brown was selected as the overall winner in the mixed media category.

Cayden’s exceptional achievement was recognized with a Blick art supplies package.

Their works will be on display from June 17–28, 2024 at Columbus College of Art and Design.

The exhibition is aimed at Ohio State students in grades nine through twelve. Its goal is to promote art education and recognize high-quality student work through state and regional exhibitions.

From two hundred entries for the exhibition, the jury selected one hundred and thirty-eight works, representing nine OAEA regions in Ohio.

The exhibition aims to motivate and inspire emerging artists to excel in various fields, including drawing, painting, sculpture, crafts, computer art, photography and printing.

The commitment and creativity of the participating students and the support from teachers who foster innovative thinking and skillful techniques were visible and commendable.

A formal reception took place on June 28, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., during which students and teachers were honored.

During the reception, students received certificates and awards, and some of their works were recognized in various categories.
