Justin Timberlake jokes on stage about a DWI arrest

Justin Timberlake jokingly referred to his arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at a bus stop in Boston.

On Saturday (June 29), the 43-year-old singer and actor shared a one-liner about the incident during a concert at Boston’s TD Garden as part of his Forget Tomorrow world tour.

“So, um, is there anyone here who’s hosting today?” Timberlake asked the cheering crowd in a fan-shot video posted to TikTok. “No, I’m just kidding,” he added quickly.

The comment drew a mix of gasps and laughter from the crowd. “SexyBack” followed the joke by asking the audience who was coming for the first time and who had seen him before, according to TMZ.

Timberlake was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Sag Harbor, New York on June 17. The next day he was charged with “driving under the influence of alcohol”.

“The defendant was found to be driving under the influence, had bloodshot and glassy eyes, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, was unable to concentrate, had slowed speech, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests,” according to a police report prepared by Officer Michael Arkinson.

“I had one martini and followed my friends home,” Arkinson also quoted the 10-time Grammy Award winner in his report.

Last week, Timberlake broke his silence following his arrest during a June 21 performance at the Chicago United Center.

“It’s been a tough week,” the singer told concertgoers. “I know it’s hard to love me sometimes, but you still love me.” He added: “We have been together through ups and downs, left and right… but you are here and I am here and nothing can change this moment now.”

JT’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., said he will “strongly” defend the star against the allegations. “He will have much to say at the appropriate time,” Burke said in a statement.

Timberlake’s next court hearing is scheduled for July 26, the same day he is scheduled to perform at Tauron Arena Kraków.
