Marcelo Bielsa, Uruguay’s coach, has been suspended by Copa America organizers CONMEBOL and will miss Monday’s match against the United States.

Uruguay won the match 5-0 and moved closer to the quarter-finals.

The Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) was also fined $15,000 and warned of the consequences of future violations.

Bielsa and AUF were given a warning for delaying the match against Panama in the opening match, and then a repeat offense against Bolivia resulted in disciplinary action.

CONMEBOL is taking decisive steps to eliminate delays in the start and resumption of competitions and has penalized and fined a number of coaches and federations during the tournament played in the USA

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni and his opponent Ricardo Gareca were suspended for Saturday’s final Group A match, while Venezuela coach Fernando Batista will miss Sunday’s match against Jamaica.

Uruguay advances to the quarter-finals after drawing with the United States at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Monday night.

If the United States wants to advance, it must score with Bolivia or better than Panama’s.
