Two Waterloo officers shot, suspect killed in Sunday’s shooting

Details were not immediately available, but authorities say officers responded to a report of a man with a gun in the 200 block of Manson Street around 8:22 a.m.

According to a news release, the investigation resulted in an officer-involved shooting in the area of ​​East Fourth and Cottage streets.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two officers shot during the incident were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not available.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident, which is typical procedure in officer-involved shootings.

Investigators closed off several blocks around the shooting scene, including much of Sullivan Park.
