2 Waterloo police officers wounded, suspect killed in shooting

WATERLOO, Iowa — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and two Waterloo police officers injured over the weekend.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Manson on a report of a man with a gun around 8:22 Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Waterloo Police Department. Shortly after responding, an officer-involved shooting occurred in the 1200 block of E. 4th Street.


Police say one man was declared deceased from the incident, and two Waterloo police officers were shot in the incident.

The officers were transported to a local hospital and police said they are both in stable condition and are expected to survive.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation into the shooting.

This is the second deadly officer-involved shooting in Waterloo this year.
