Blues defender Jordan Boyd suspended for high kick

Mansell ducked his head as he moved towards Boyd and the defender hit him belly-forward.

The Tiger was awarded a free kick for too high contact and managed to finish the match.

Michael Christian, the match review coordinator, accused Boyd of violent conduct and rated the incident as careless conduct, high contact and medium impact, resulting in a one-game suspension.

An elegant defender, Boyd has played in all 15 games this season and is a key part of the Blues’ formidable defence.

Boyd, if he fails to successfully fight in the tribunal, will miss Saturday’s away match against the GWS team fighting for a place in the final at the Engie Stadium.

The Blues have until 11 a.m. Tuesday to decide whether to accept the suspension.

Boyd’s Carlton team-mate Nic Newman could accept a $1,250 wrestling penalty, as could Tigers star Liam Baker.
