An IFD firefighter suffered minor injuries while extinguishing a fire on the northeast side of the

INDIANAPOLIS — A firefighter was injured while battling a fire on the northeast side of Indianapolis Sunday evening.

Indianapolis Fire Department crews responded to the 2000 block of Columbia Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. for a report of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews located a single-story barn on fire. The barn was being used as a repair garage.

One IFD firefighter was slightly injured in the fire and was transported to Methodist Hospital as a precaution.

According to IFD, the fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes.

No civilians were injured. At the time of the fire, the building was uninhabited.
