Stuff the Bus supports students in our District 51 in Mesa County

It may seem like summer has just begun in Colorado, but the first day of school really isn’t that far away. No one wants to think about going back to school just yet, but we can start thinking about how we can help Grand Junction students prepare for the year ahead.

While many children are enjoying summer activities, many of the angels who care for them are gathering right now to start collecting school supplies and donations for students in District 51 in Mesa County. Stuff the Bus is back and our chance to help our community is underway.

What is Bus Stuff?

The Townsquare Media family of radio stations partners each year with Mesa Valley County School District 51 and a community hospital to help provide school supplies to students who cannot afford them. The Student Transportation of America bus is located at the Mesa Mall on Clock Court, so anyone can leave bags of school supplies on the bus. The bus windows are open, climb up and drop your donations inside.

You can also make a monetary donation to help District 51 purchase school supplies for students if you are unable to shop and deliver them to the mall. A simple cash donation can be made through the D51 Foundation. Monetary donations will be used to purchase specific items needed at each school in the district.

Who benefits from the Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive?

Did you know that nearly half of students in District 51 households qualify for a free or reduced-price lunch plan? This means that many students are also in a difficult situation when it comes to being able to purchase their own materials for classes. Our amazing teachers at Grand Valley often dig into their own pockets to help close this gap. Stuff the Bus helps both these students and teachers.
