Woman arrested in Spanish winery break-in

The case of vandalism in a Spanish vineyard was first reported by: beverage business In February, a woman was arrested and released on bail.

Intruder

According to db reports from February, an intruder broke into the Cepa 21 winery in Castrillo de Duero, Valladolid, Spain, opened vats and poured out 60,000 liters of liquid.

Cepa 21 president José Moro said: The Vanguard that after his arrest he was “bittersweet”, although he also breathed a sigh of relief about the course of the case, but he did not understand “how one could commit such a sacrilege”.

He told the newspaper that it was not possible to re-drink the spilled wine and that the company also suffered economic losses as a result of the situation.

Surveillance footage released by the producer earlier this year shows an unidentified person running between large vats and turning on taps, causing tens of thousands of liters of fermenting liquid to spill onto the winery floor.

The act of vandalism occurred on February 18. A masked person entered the winery at 4:30 a.m. and opened five steel tanks.

A spokesman for the winery said in February this year BBC that the company’s two most expensive varieties, the Horcajo and Malabrigo brands, were released from the vats in less than a minute, leading to the assumption that the intruder was familiar with both the property and its grounds.

At the time, Moro also told a Spanish TV station: TVE that the intruder did not steal anything and apparently his only goal was to cause damage.

He said: “This is a case of harm for harm’s sake, by someone who lacks balance, has little common sense and acts out of hatred.”
