‘Arrested Development’ star Martin Mull dies at the age of 80

Television star Martin Mull, best known for his roles in hit comedy series Arrested Development, Roseanne and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, has died after an undisclosed illness, his family said.

Mull, whose career spanned decades and included hundreds of appearances in television, film, comedy and music, died Thursday at age 80, his daughter said.

It is known that he had been struggling with a mysterious illness for a long time.

His daughter, television producer and author Maggie Mull, confirmed the news on Saturday, describing her father as someone she loves “immensely.”

“I am sad to announce that my father passed away at home on June 27 after a courageous battle with a long illness,” the former Family Guy producer wrote on Instagram.

“He was known to excel in every creative field imaginable… He thought the joke was funny. It was never funny.

She added that everyone, including “many, many dogs,” will miss her father “very much.”

He won the role of Colonel Mustard in the 1985 black comedy Clue, inspired by the board game of the same name.

Fans of 1990s television will recognize him from the sitcom Roseanne, where he played the boss and best friend of the main character, Leon Carp.

He also appeared in the critically acclaimed Fox sitcom Arrested Development, playing private investigator Gene Parmesan opposite Jessica Walter, Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi and Michael Cera.

During his extensive career, he appeared as a guest on many famous television programs, including: on The Simpsons, Family Guy, Two and a Half Men and many others.

In 2016, he was nominated for an Emmy for his four-episode appearance on the HBO political satire Veep.
