Fill a bus to support the students of District 51 in Mesa County

Summer may seem like it just started in Colorado, but the first day of school isn’t that far away. No one wants to think about going back to school yet, but we can start thinking about ways to help Grand Junction students prepare for the year ahead.

While many children are enjoying summer activities, many of the angels who care for them are gathering right now to start collecting school supplies and donations for students in District 51 in Mesa County. Stuff the Bus is back and our chance to help our community is underway.

What is Stuff the Bus?

The Townsquare Media family of radio stations partners with Mesa County Valley School District 51 and Community Hospital each year to help provide school supplies to students who can’t afford them. The Student Transportation of America bus is parked at the Mesa Mall on Clock Court so people can leave their school supply bags on the bus. The windows of the bus are open, come on over and drop your donations off.

You can also make a monetary donation to help District 51 purchase school supplies for students if you are unable to shop and take supplies to the mall. A simple monetary donation can be made through the D51 Foundation. Monetary donations will be used to purchase specific items needed at each school in the district.

Who benefits from the Stuff the Bus school supply collection?

Did you know that nearly half of students from District 51 households qualify for free or reduced-price lunch? That means many students are also struggling when it comes to being able to purchase their own supplies for classes. Our amazing teachers in Grand Valley often reach into their own pockets to help fill that gap. Stuff the Bus helps both these students and teachers.
