A Russian man was arrested and illegal drugs were seized from his room in Hua Hin city, Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The arrest took place after the seizure of a parcel containing 840 grams of mephedrone on June 24.

Customs officers determined that the shipment from Poland contained capsules filled with a light brown powder. The substance was sent for laboratory testing, which confirmed it was mephedrone, an illegal drug.

Mephedrone may be an ingredient in a synthetic stimulant known as bath salts.

The investigation led to the arrest of a Russian who came to collect the package on Friday.

Police searched his room and found a number of drugs in small quantities, including methamphetamine, MDMA, ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, ketamine and mephedrone.

Police said the man was responsible for collecting packages containing drugs being shipped from overseas. They were stored in his room before being delivered to other locations.
