Bryan Singer Seeks Dismissal of Teen Sexual Abuse Suit

Attorneys for Bryan Singer have filed a motion to dismiss the Los Angeles child sexual abuse case involving the British actor, known only as “John Doe 117.”

Attorneys for Singer and the director say the lawsuit has no legal merit and are asking for a $300,000 bond to cover legal costs, which they say are “excessive” in a motion filed Thursday in federal court in Los Angeles.

Jeffrey Herman, the same lawyer who represented Michael Egan, who accuses Singer and three other Hollywood figures of sexual harassment when he was a teenager, filed the Doe lawsuit in May.

Producer Gary Goddard, who is also accused by Doe, filed a similar motion to dismiss the lawsuit in June.

A hearing on the motions will be held on August 18.
