The fire that broke out Saturday in Mendenhall Springs, about 9 miles southeast of Livermore, was about half contained Sunday afternoon, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Cal Fire said the forest fire near mile marker 17 on Mines Road, which was 10 acres in size on Saturday, was “50% contained” after more detailed mapping of 5 acres as of Sunday afternoon.

No injuries or property damage have been reported as of yet in the Mines fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Of the 8 fire trucks, only one remains to extinguish the rest of the blaze, according to the latest status from Cal Fire.

The site of the Mines fire is only a few miles away away from Corral Firewhich in early June burned over 14,000 acres in 24 hours and took several days to extinguish.
