Tullahoma City Votes to Settle Former Employee’s Lawsuit

Following a $5 million federal lawsuit filed by former Tullahoma Human Resources Director Casta Brice, the Mayor’s Board and Aldermen recently approved Mayor Ray Knowis’ motion to propose a settlement. The amount of the settlement offer is not known. The public entity partners will handle negotiations.

According to the Tullahoma News, Brice’s attorney, Justin Gilbert, alleges in the lawsuit that Brice was subjected to retaliatory behavior by Councilman Kurt Glick during his tenure as director of the Parks and Recreation Department beginning in 2020, culminating in her being removed from administrative duties in February 2023.

Brice was on leave until City Administrator Jason Quick wrote her on Sept. 29 stating that the human resources director position would be eliminated, ending her employment with the city.

The motion was then put to a vote, with Councilor Derick Mann making the motion and Berry seconding. The motion passed by four to one, with Wilson voting against. Councilors Kurt Glick and Jenna Amacher were not present.
