Man arrested for setting Rafina on fire

A 38-year-old man was remanded in custody on Tuesday after responding to charges of starting a fire that broke out in Rafina, eastern Attica, last Saturday.

The suspect, identified as a Romanian national, denied starting the fire and said he was in the area trying to put it out.

The same suspect was previously arrested twice for arson in the same area last month and avoided a fine, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency reported, but no further details were given.

This time, however, authorities charged the suspect with endangering others and sent him to prison.
