Mountain biker rescued by helicopter in Glentress after being found ‘seriously injured’

A mountain biker had to be airlifted from a popular trail in the Scottish Borders after he suffered serious injuries.

At around 10am on Sunday, Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue was called to Glentress following reports of an injured person.

A team of volunteers managed to get the injured man off the trail on a stretcher, after which he was transported by a Scottish charity air ambulance helicopter.

It was the 36th intervention this year by the Tweed Valley team, which involved 15 officers, as well as paramedics and Scottish Ambulance Service officers.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 10.14am on Sunday 30 June in relation to an incident in Glentree Forest, Peebles.

“We dispatched one ambulance and one air ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. One patient was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
