CROOKSTON, Minn. (KVRR/KFGO/KROX) — A Crookston police officer fatally shot a man during a confrontation at a homeless shelter.

Police were dispatched to the Care and Share shelter at around 11.45pm last night following a report of a fight.

Police Chief Darin Selzer said one of the men was aggressive toward officers and did not follow their verbal commands.

Before the officer fired his handgun, wounding the suspect, less lethal measures were used.

The man died on the spot.
