Dieterich Village Council Honors Dieterich School Students at Monday Meeting

DHS Trap Team with Dieterich Village Board Members

Dieterich, IL-(Radio Effingham)- During Monday’s meeting, the Dieterich Village Board honored Dieterich High School students for their recent successes in the state tournament.

Ryan Rich was recognized for taking first place in the state math competition and first place in the state computer science competition in 2024 and previously in 2023.

The DHS Trap Team was also recognized for taking 1st place in the 1A Varsity category and 2nd place in the 1A Junior Varsity category. 14 students participated in the tournament.

The board also heard from Tick Tock Energy about the installation of solar panels at the Village Hall. In order to qualify for the numerous incentives and tax breaks, the registration process must take place soon. It was mentioned that the solar panels will likely pay for themselves over time and will be warranted for at least 10 years. Tick Tock Energy said that they have noticed very few issues with the solar panels and they are very durable. The board will likely proceed with the registration for the solar panels.

Village Engineer Lee Beckman also gave an update on storm sewer projects and said work on the cemetery is on track. He also mentioned that another round of flood buyouts is scheduled for later this month.

The Board also:

  • Consider approving Ordinance 1169-2024: Authorization for transfer of real property (EJ Water – Lots 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Dieterich Industrial Park East)
  • Consider hiring Triple A Asbestos to remove asbestos from 106 N Vine Street for $2,665.00
  • Review and discuss draft tender documents for the replacement of the Village Hall roof
  • Review and discuss draft footwear and workwear policy updates
