SEMINOLE, Fla. (WFLA) — The Seminole City Fire Department announced that a firefighter recently died.

Authorities identified the firefighter as Lt. Brendon Holcomb in a social media post Monday. The details of his death were not discussed.

“The loss of Lt. Holcomb was a shock not only to our department, but to many other departments throughout the county, he was well known in our firefighting community,” the fire department said.

Holcomb had been with the department for 14 years, according to SFRD. He recently received the department’s Medal of Honor for “heroic actions” while responding to a vehicle that had fallen into a reservoir.

“His love for our profession, community, and fellow firefighters was demonstrated with a palpable energy that will not soon be forgotten,” the post said. “While our Seminole firefighters and staff are absolutely heartbroken, we remain steadfast in our same dedication to our great profession and the mission that Lt. Holcomb proudly called his own. See you on the roof.”
