Rome teenager convicted of biting a police officer during arrest

Ayden Ryan Matthews, a 17-year-old from Rome, was arrested this week after he reportedly bit an officer during a traffic stop on Calhoun Road.

Police said they stopped the man after they noticed he was driving a vehicle with a broken rear light.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered Matthews was driving without a valid license. It was at this time that Matthews allegedly attempted to evade arrest by fleeing on foot.

After a short chase, officers took Matthews to the ground, where he bit him on the arm.

Matthews has been charged with assaulting a police officer, obstructing police, driving without a licence and having faulty rear lights.
