Report from the Supreme Court

I’m in the courthouse now, and things are starting to get a little more exciting. Reporters are starting to arrive in the spotless press room, which has sketches of Supreme Court courtrooms on the wall, as well as photos of various architectural features of the building.

Although reporters have the opportunity to set up laptops and other devices here, everything changes when we enter the courtroom in about an hour.

There are no devices, of any kind, allowed. When I entered, I was repeatedly told that I had to leave everything here, including smart watches. Old-fashioned pen and paper only is allowed in the room.

Since photography is also prohibited there, the task of capturing the scenes inside the courtroom falls on the shoulders of storyboard artists like the man sitting a few feet from me to the right, Bill Hennessy.

He has been a fixture at high-profile trials across the United States for decades, including Donald Trump’s money trial in New York and a preliminary hearing over his secret documents in Florida. Just a few weeks ago, I sat in the row behind him at Hunter Biden’s federal gun trial in Delaware.
