A Lake County woman has been accused of brushing against a police car in Oak Brook and hitting another car Saturday as she tried to flee from officers investigating a theft at Macy’s.

Kayshanda Outlaw, 24, of the 1600 block of Lorelei Drive in Zion, is charged with burglary, retail theft and fleeing and evading a police officer, according to the DuPage County District Attorney’s Office. All these acts are crimes.

Authorities said she also faces several tickets for traffic offences, including driving without a licence and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Prosecutors said Asia Wallace, 32, of the same address, was charged with burglary and retail theft.

Police said that around 3:41 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to a report of a theft at the Macy’s store in the Oakbrook Center shopping center. Officials say the two women took more than $1,450 worth of children’s clothing.

Police said that as officers tried to block the defendants’ car from leaving the scene, Outlaw struck the police car and then drove off north on Route 83. She reached speeds of 90 miles per hour before losing control of the vehicle at the intersection of Butterfield Road and Prospect Avenue in Elmhurst and struck another car, authorities said.

The driver of that car suffered minor injuries, authorities said.

Both women were released pending the outcome of investigations into their cases. Their next court date is July 29.
