Samsung Reportedly Trying to Take Down Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 Pre-Unboxing Photos

We’re just days away from Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, and the tech giant is as close to announcing its rumors early as it can get — by sending a supposed takedown notice to social media site X, in which an insider posted alleged photos of the widely anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldable devices.

Prominent industry insider Evan Blass last week posted what appeared to be marketing materials for the company’s new devices, adding to the avalanche of details that have leaked online ahead of the Galaxy Unpacked event taking place on July 10 in Paris.

Samsung’s apparent response came on Monday when Blass posted a photo of a dozen emails from “Twitter Support” that referenced takedown notices received under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

This move, which is actually a copyright takedown notice, often results in confirmation of the leak’s veracity, as companies often claim that the copyrighted images are theirs and were posted without permission.

Samsung representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Samsung’s moves mark the latest twist in the buildup to the company’s next big product launch, which is expected to include improved foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The devices, which offer foldable versions of Samsung’s tablets and smartphones, aren’t expected to sell as widely as the company’s flagships like the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Still, Samsung has an opportunity to draw attention to its more innovative efforts, especially when compared to Apple’s expected September update to its iPhone 16 line.

The Korean tech giant is expected to use its event to also announce its already-announced Galaxy Ring wearable sensor, which is expected to compete with products like the $299 Oura Ring. Samsung is also rumored to announce upgraded smartwatches at the event, including a “premium” version similar to the Apple Watch Ultra for $799.

Meanwhile, Samsung and its retail partners are preparing for the upcoming event by offering deals that can save up to $1,500 if people reserve a device before the Unpacked event. The company is also offering lower prices on its current Galaxy Flip 5 through various wireless carriers.
